Welcome

As organizers of the WEF Sport Horse Auction we are thrilled to bring to Wellington the top young sport horses from VDL Stud, 2009 KWPN breeder of the year and home to some of the most talented show jumpers around the world. Presented in an exciting auction, these progeny of grand prix winners come from the finest VDL blood lines. It is a rare opportunity to view such an array of talent in one setting.

This year we are excited to present two ‘select’ Dressage horses from a member of the Westphalian Studbook in Germany. The Westphalian Studbook e.V. has been producing outstanding German bloodstock for over 100 years, breeding champions for the international dressage and show jumping arenas around the world. These horses have been hand-selected for this event and are well-suited for the U.S. market with superb talent and temperaments ideal for international competition successes.

This auction is exemplary of our mission at Equestrian Sport Productions to create new and innovative events for our constituents and attract a global audience to the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.

At this event you will see a group of outstanding jumping prospects coming from the legendary VDL Stud in the Netherlands and dressage prospects selected by the Westphalian Studbook in Germany. The horses were specially selected for their superior talent, disposition, and quality for the demanding horse market at the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival.

You will be able to see the VDL jumping prospects and Dressage horses in action, test ride them, and choose your favorite.

We invite you to this unique opportunity to view and acquire the next generation of champions. Please join us in an exciting evening that is sure to raise the bar on horse sport auctions in North America.

We look forward to welcoming you all and sharing this exciting opportunity.

The VDL Stud
In 1972 Wiepke van de Lageweg bought his
first horse for breeding. What started for him
as a hobby with only one breeding mare,
expanded into an international operating
family company: The VDL Stud (located in a
little village in the north of Holland.)
The VDL stud has a modern facility to
train young horses, a breeding facility with
approximately 70 breeding mares and an
European Certified Stallion Station with
more then 50 approved stallions, who are
stationed all over the world.
Through a strict selection over the years
the breeding program of the VDL Stud is
existing out of excellent breeding mares
with the best bloodlines.
Raising the young horses healthy is very
important and at the same time training
them in the right way. So anybody who
wants a horse can find one, which fits to
his or her needs.

The Westphalian Breeder’s Association (Westfalisches Pferdestammbuch e.V. ) has been promoting breeding excellence since it was founded in 1904.

For over 100 years we have taken great care and pride in developing bloodstock that excels in show jumping, dressage and eventing. Famous stallions such as Pilot, Florestan I, Cornet Obolensky, Rubenstein I, and Furst Piccolo are synonymous with international competition and breeding success, with our current stallion superstar Damon Hill, helping the German Dressage Team win the Gold Medal for Germany at the 2013 European Championships.

In addition to the implementation of extensive breeding programs, our dedicated team advises the 7,000 strong membership on all aspects of rearing, training and promoting their bloodstock. As a Westfalen breeder or owner in any part of the world, you are invited to access all these member services including passport issuance and replacement, foal inspection and branding and stallion grading.
